FMA Executive Director Eduard Müller re-appointed to the Management Board of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA)

Eduard Müller, Executive Director at the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), was reappointed for a second term to the Management Board of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) based in Paris at the most recent meeting of ESMA’s Supervisory Board. This control instance is composed of the ESMA Chairperson as well as six further representatives with voting rights from the 27 national supervisory authorities; in addition the ESMA Executive Director as well as a representative from the European Commission also participate. The Management Board’s duty is to ensure that the authority fulfils its legal mandate in an orderly manner, and performed the duties that are conferred upon it in an appropriate manner. Its duties include, among others, proposals for the Annual Work Programme, the annual budget, the Authority’s staffing plan and its annual report.

As a result, FMA manager staff are currently represented in managerial functions in all three European Supervisory Authorities for the financial markets: FMA Executive Director Helmut Ettl is the Vice-Chairperson of the European Banking Authority (EBA), and Peter Braumüller, FMA Managing Director for Insurance and Pension Company Supervision, is Vice-Chairperson of the Management Board of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA).
