Yesterday, October 10, 2006, the Financial Market Authority FMA withdrew the licence of the “Concept Finanz Moshammer Klaus Vermögensberatungs KG” with immediate effect. This investment services provider, which has been active on the market since 1994 on the basis of a commercial licence, had received a licence on September 9, 1999 from the then Austrian Securities Authority (ASA), which entitled it to provide investment advice and to broker financial services. In the course of an unannounced on-site inspection at the beginning of October 2006, certain facts were revealed which aroused the strong suspicion that the company had also provided asset management services without having the necessary licence. In addition, the company is also suspected of having illegally accepted customers’ money and misappropriating it.

The FMA has therefore sent a report detailing the case to the Vienna public prosecutor’s office for an investigation into any criminal offences which might have been committed.
