ESG Dialogue for Credit Institutions

ESG Dialogue for Credit Institutions
Sustainability as a priority in practice
Sustainability is a key component of supervisory activities. We hold great store in a continual exchange of knowledge and the joint further development of methodologies regarding ESG risk management. We therefore offer various formats to promote dialogue with supervised entities.

We believe in dialogue: effective ESG risk management by means of practical and proportional supervision. In addition, the topic of sustainable finance and ESG risk management are addressed in management talks and structured dialogues with credit institutions.
FMA OeNB Forum
On 13 May 2026, the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) held their FMA OeNB Forum on the topic of ESG risks for credit institutions (focusing specifically on less significant institutions (LSIs) and non-CRR institutions). The event handled issues including regulatory standards in the field of ESG, such as guidance and good practices in transition planning and physical risks, as well as experiences from supervisory practice, covering among other things the adequacy of ESG practices at AT LSIs and ESG in the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process for LSIs (LSI-SREP) and the way forward. In addition to staff members responsible for ESG agendas, the target audience were members of the senior management and the management body as well as representatives from the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO).
