In its Press Release dated 14.11.2024 the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) announced that a Europe-wide data collection exercise regarding the cost structure linked to investments in alternative investment funds (AIFs) as well as undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS).
This data collection exercise is being conducted in cooperation with the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) and is addressed towards the management companies of AIFs and UCITS (funds manufacturers) as well as fund distribution companies like banks and investment firms.
This initiative’s objective is to cast light on the pricing of funds and to promote the development of a competitive market for UCITS and AIFs. Increased transparency in this area will permit investors to obtain information about the characteristics of the funds projects offered, and to be able to reach better founded investment decisions.
The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) will also participate in this data collection exercise and with support supervised entities in participating in the survey as well as making them aware about further steps.
