FMA Director Peter Braumüller re-elected as Alternate Chair of EIOPA

Peter Braumüller, Director for Insurance and Pension Supervision at the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), has today been re-elected as the Alternate Chair of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) to serve a five year term. He will continue to deputise for the Chairman of EIOPA, Gabriel Bernardino, who has been reappointed for a further five years. Peter Braumüller (56) trained as a lawyer and actuarial mathematician and has been Director of the FMA’s Insurance and Pension Company Supervision Department since the FMA was established in 2002.

EIOPA is the competent European Supervisory Authority responsible for insurance and occupational pensions and has its headquarters in Frankfurt. As the competent national supervisory authority for insurance undertakings and pension companies (Pensionskassen), the FMA represents Austrian interests in this European authority, and holds a seat with voting rights in its Board of Supervisors.
