This year, collective consumer protection is once again a priority for ongoing supervision for the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA). The FMA has been publishing its “Let’s talk about money” / “Reden wir über Geld” series for four years. Every month it tackles a financial topic relating to submissions and enquiries made by consumers to the FMA.
Today, “Reden wir über Geld” is advancing to the next level, and is starting an Instagram channel: “Reden wir über Geld – powered by FMA”, can be found at @redenwiruebergeld. The first topic to be covered is instant loans, consumer loans that can be applied for online and concluded with a few mouse clicks, loans for paying in instalments, and “buy now, pay later” models. “It is the logical progression for our successful publication series ‘Reden wir über Geld’, with this new channel allowing us to also reach a younger audience”, remarked the FMA’s Executive Directors Helmut Ettl and Eduard Müller. “This target group naturally has particular interests and needs, that we also want to fulfil on Instagram.”
Following the Instagram launch, in the coming weeks there will also be a “Reden wir über Geld” podcast as well as a video-based format. The FMA has developed these formats in association with Content Agentur Austria. Content Agentur Austria is part of the Wiener Zeitung media group, and supports public sector establishments as well as the private sector by providing content services.
