The first episode of the FMA’s podcast with the FMA’s experts Fiona Springer and Patricia Floh-Weninger addresses the issue of the Abfertigung neu severance scheme and corporate provision companies (Betriebliche Vorsorgekassen).
Following the successful launch of the Instagram channel “Reden wir über Geld – powered by FMA” the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) is now taking a further step by launching a podcast with information for consumers. In the first episode, the FMA’s experts Fiona Springer and Patricia Floh-Weninger explain how the “Abfertigung neu” severance scheme works. Many consumers are currently letters in the post at the moment from corporate provision companies with statements about the amount of their severance contribution. The podcast explains a number of terms such as “Anwartschaft” (entitlement) and “Kapitalgarantie” (capital guarantee) and also answers the question whether you can also combine all your severance entitlement accounts held at various pension companies.
In the segment “Fraud der Folge” the podcast also reports about the current trends in investment fraud – this edition covers “Promi-Betrug” (celebrity endorsement fraud), where fake advertisements are used by fraudulent platforms, who try to lure in victims with the help of celebrities.
“Reden wir über Geld” can be found on all popular podcasting platforms. As was also the case when launching the Instagram channel @redenwiruebergeld, the FMA was supported by Content Agentur Austria in setting up the podcast. Content Agentur Austria is part of the Wiener Zeitung media group, and supports public sector establishments as well as the private sector by providing content services.
