The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) has received information that increasingly frequent incidents by fraudsters impersonating Alpen Privatbank AG or claiming to work for Alpen Privatbank AG are currently circulating. These incidents misuse Alpen Privatbank AG’s name, logo and branding to disseminate fraudulent loan offers. This scam targets private persons in German-speaking countries and focuses on using the construction of granting a loan to solicit advance payments from them.
The FMA warns about the existence of fraudulent “clones” of existing providers and urges consumers to act with caution if they are contacted in an unsolicited manner. Further information can be found in our information series “Let’s talk about money” (Reden wir über Geld).
