European Stress Tests

European Stress Tests – Pension Companies

In addition to the national stress tests conducted by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) generally conducted a Europe-wide stress on institutions for occupational retirement provision every three years that also covers Austrian pension companies. The FMA determines the participants in the stress test.

The stress tests are conducted in close cooperation with the national supervisory authorities. Information about the stress tests conducted by EIOPA jointly with the national supervisory authorities may be found under the following link: Occupational pension stress test | EIOPA.

The FMA would like to point out that stress test results should be interpreted in view of the assumptions made. A comparison of the results of individual countries is only possible to a limited extent in light of respective country-specific circumstances. The occupational pension sector in Europe is very heterogeneous. Employment and social law provisions also vary as well as the tax regulations.
