FMA Report for Q3 2022 on Austrian Pensionskassen: Assets managed fell to € 24.34 bn (-1.09%), 2022 Performance -9.75% to date

The assets managed by Austrian Pensionskassen (pension companies) stood at € 24.34 billion at the end of the 3rd Quarter of 2022, corresponding to a decrease of 1.09% or € 267 million compared to the previous quarter. The total number of beneficiaries rose by +0.24% in comparison with the preceding quarter to 1.03 million individuals. 13.03% (approx. 134,000) are already receiving a pension benefit. The investment performance calculated by the Oesterreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB) for the 3rd quarter was – 1.07%; the investment performance for the first nine months of 2022 was -9.75%. On average for the last three, five and ten years, the performance stands at +0.62%, +1.41% and +3.25% respectively. These findings have emerged from the Report on the Austrian Pensionskassen for the 3rd Quarter of 2022, which was published today by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA).

96.03% of the assets of the Pensionskassen are held indirectly via investment funds. Broken down into investment classes, equities have the largest share of the portfolio, amount to 36.61% of assets, followed by debt securities at 31.89%, while balances held at credit institutions stand at 8.58%. The remainder is in the form of real estate, loans and credits as well as other assets. After having taken currency hedge transactions into account, around 31.93% of the assets were invested in foreign currencies.
