Investment fund management companies

An investment fund management company is a credit institution, the business operations of which are focussed on investing funds deposited with it in its own name on the collective account of the investors in accordance with the principle of the diversification of risk, and invested separately from its own assets. Such companies manage investment funds / capital investment funds (collective portfolio management). This banking transaction is defined in Article 1 para. 1 no. 13 BWG. In addition investment fund management companies may also demand a licence for the provision of investment services (e.g. individual portfolio management, investment advice). Investment fund management companies are subject to the provisions of the Investment Funds Act of 2011 (InvFG 2011) as well as necessary in managing of alternative investment funds (AIFs) in the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Act (AIFMG).
