FMA issues a warning about spam faxes related to Idea Fabrik plc

Release Date: |
Categories:

Numerous private individuals and market participants have sent the FMA a hand-written fax today which they themselves had received. The content of this fax is related to the alleged imminent takeover of the company Idea Fabrik plc (ISIN GB00B61CVK31, German Securities Identification Number A1CS42, listed at the stock exchanges in Frankfurt and Berlin). The FMA cannot rule out that the text of the fax is intended to spread false rumours.

The way the text is written and presented suggests that the fax was received by mistake. The content could constitute illegal passing on of inside information.

Due to the circumstances involved in the case and the fact that the fax has obviously been sent to a large number of people, the Financial Market Authority has initiated investigations on market abuse.
