Helmut Ettl new member of FMA Executive Board

With effect from February 14, 2008, the Federal President appointed Helmut Ettl as new member of FMA Executive Board of the Financial Market Authority FMA for a term of office of five years. Following a public advertisement of the position Mr Ettl was nominated by the Federal Minister of Finance after a selection procedure. He was then proposed for this position by the Federal Government. Mr Ettl succeeds Heinrich Traumüller, who left on February 13, 2008. Kurt Pribil continues to be the second Executive Director.

Mr Ettl was born on August 23, 1965 in Linz, where he also attended a business administration college (HAK) and Johannes Kepler University Linz. After completing his degree in Economics, he joined the Foreign Research Division of Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) in 1995. In 1999, he became the assistant of Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell, who was then the member of the Governing Board in charge of banking supervision. He was appointed deputy head of the Banking Analysis and Inspections Division of OeNB in 2001, and its head in 2003. Mr Ettl’s international experience stems from working at the International Monetary Fund in Washington as well as the European Commission in Brussels.
