Peter Braumüller, Director of the Insurance and Pension Companies Supervision Department at the Financial Market Authority (FMA), was re-elected Chair of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) at the organisation’s annual conference and general meeting in Washington. He will therefore chair the IAIS for another two years.
The current topics and projects of the IAIS include: preparing global standards for the supervision of internationally active insurance groups (ComFrame), systemic risk in the insurance sector, the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding on the mutual exchange of information among supervisory authorities, and the implementation of the IAIS principles and standards by means of self-assessments and peer reviews.
Mr Braumüller also represents the IAIS in cooperative efforts with its sister organisations IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions) and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. He also has a seat in the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
