“Smart & Simple” – the FMA launches an audiovisual consumer information series

“Smart & Simple” is the Austrian Financial Market Authority’s newly launched digital consumer information series – which is available on its website. FMA experts address current financial topics in an easy to understand manner in simple language in short explainer videos. The first video, which has been published, covers the topic of investment fraud, and focuses on how consumers can take simple steps to protect themselves. New videos will be published at regular intervals that are available on YouTube, as well as the FMA’s website and social media channels.

“Our main objective is to act preventively” remarked the FMA’s Executive Directors, Helmut Ettl and Eduard Müller. “Proactive approaches for improving financial literacy, warning investors as well as widespread communications about current developments about investment fraud, especially presenting examples of new or particularly prevalent fraud methods, have proved particularly effective, and make a valuable contribution towards consumer protection.” The new audiovisual “Smart & Simple” format is a further instrument that builds on the FMA’s existing proactive financial literacy initiatives: the A-Z of Finance section of the FMA website, and the “Let’s talk about money” publication series.
