EBA, EIOPA and ESMA seeking new members for Stakeholder Groups

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and the European Banking Authority (EBA) have issued a call for applications to join their respective stakeholder groups.

ESMA

ESMA is looking for new members for its Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG). Interested applicants are requested to submit applications by 23:59 CET on 18 March 2024.

The final decision about the SMSG ’s composition is expected to be taken by ESMA ’s Board of Supervisors in May 2024. The four year term starts on 01 July 2024.

The SMSG is an important body for ESMA . It facilitates consultation with stakeholders and provides technical advice on ESMA ’s policies and activities. Furthermore, it brings information on recent market developments to the authority’s attention.

EIOPA

EIOPA is looking for new members for its Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group (IRSG) and the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group (OPSG). The deadline for applications is 23:59 CET on 25 March 2024.

The selection procedure will be concluded by the end of June 2024, prior to the new mandate beginning in July 2024.

EIOPA makes use of stakeholder groups to receive feedback and to promote a structured approach for constructive cooperation with a broad spectrum of relevant stakeholders. Each group comprises of 30 members. The selection process takes into account a balanced geographical and gender-based representation as well as the diversity of the insurance, reinsurance and occupational pensions sector and stakeholder representation throughout the entire European Union.

EBA

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has launched a call for applications for membership of its Banking Stakeholders Group (BSG). The deadline for applications is 23:59 CET on 27 March 2024.

EBA ’s Board of Supervisors will take a decision about the composition of the BSG in June 2024. Applicants will be notified accordingly by the end of June 2024. The Board of Supervisors will also name candidates, who will be included in a reserve list. The first meeting of the BSG in its new composition will take place on 16 July 2024.

The Banking Stakeholders Group consists of 30 members. They include 13 members representing, in balanced proportions, financial institutions operating in the European Union of whom three of which are cooperative banks and savings banks. Furthermore, there are 13 members representing employees’ representatives of financial institutions operating in the European Union, consumers, users of banking services and representatives of SMEs ; as well as four members who are independent top-ranking academics.
