Founding conference of the “CESEE Insurance Supervision Initiative” in Vienna

Release Date: |
Categories:

This initiative brings together the insurance supervisory authorities from Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, for the purpose of stronger cross-border cooperation in this region. Along with the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), the authorities from Albania, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine are also founding members.

“Due to the strong presence of Austrian insurance groups in the CESEE region and the role of the FMA as group supervisor, this initiative is of particularly great importance to us,” says FMA Executive Director Helmut Ettl. “Alongside setting up the new supervisory architecture in the European Union, the intensification of cross-border cooperation in the CESEE region is currently the main focus of our work on international cooperation.”

In particular, the issues “Solvency II”, “Supervisory Colleges”, “Consumer Protection” and “Motor Vehicle Insurance” are being discussed at the first conference. In future, the CESEE Insurance Supervision Initiative will meet regularly for conferences and workshops to discuss current insurance supervision topics.
